Metal2Metal (Webzine/Deutsch/May 2009) 4/5 --> http://www.metal2metal.de/cd-review/son ... -of-vermin

This one isn't really bad, but not too enthusiastic either. In my opinion he should listen to the songs a bit more and he will change his mind:

Neckbreaker.de (Webzine/Deutsch/May 2009) 6,5/10 --> http://www.neckbreaker.de/CD-Reviews/So ... -Of-Vermin

And one in Dutch that I can't read:

Metalfan.nl (Webzine/Dutsch/May 2009) 81/100 --> http://www.metalfan.nl/reviews.php?id=5517

Post Re: Reviews
A rough translation of the metalfan interview:

Simone Simons is being awfully busy these days. Epica goes ever onwards, but now she also appears as a guest with German band Sons of Seasons. The link isn't far off, as it's an initiative of boyfriend Oliver Palotai, keyboard player of Kamelot. Together with several other musicians and Metalium vocalist Henning Basse he has put together this tasteful piece.

Gods of Vermin immediately opens well after the intro. The title song is a powerful composition with all kinds of progressive twists. Even though the symphonic layer is ever present due to the prominent keyboards, the guitar players regularly let their instruments speak. In the spun out Wheel of Guilt it pleases me the most. The song reminds me of Oliver's main band in terms of progression, and that is definitely not a negative thing. It also sufficiently differs from said band, because Sons of Seasons is both darker and more complex. Not every passage sounds right, but that isn't really a problem. The album convinces after a first listening, but due to subtle details remains interesting in the long term as well.

A trump card are Henning Basse's vocals. With Metalium he tends to sound fairly limited due to the straightforward heavy metal tunes, but here he can regularly pull out all the stops. An excellent vocalist whose performance stays on track in both higher and lower vocal ranges. Simone contributes a few times as well, and she does what she always does, a solid vocal performance. I'm sure that fans of both Kamelot and more progressive power metalbands such as Pagan's Mind will take to this like a duck to water. It's properly executed, the melodies are strong and the production sounds epic. A fine album, that much is certain.

Double post. ;)

Two nice reviews!

Rocktimes (Webzine/May2009/Deusch) http://www.rocktimes.de/gesamt/s/sons_o ... ermin.html

Sonice Dice (Webzine/May 2009/English) - Rating 5/6: http://www.sonicdice.com/2009/05/15/alb ... of-vermin/

I also found several not so good reviews and they make me really mad. Why? Because it's obvious that not the album has a problem, but the reviewers. Their main problem is, that the album is not accessible enough hearing it the first time, too complex and that it is too progressive. You know, since when is progressive a negative thing? Too progressive can be boring of course, but we all know, the album is all but boring.

Or another guy who wrote a review and he says he doesn't like the genre in general. In the end he gives the album 2 out of 10 points. Because he doesn't like the whole genre. What's the poing in writing a review when you usually don't listen to this kind of music? He says the songs don't have a soul. Can you believe that? :cursing2: Sorry, but stuff like this makes me mad.

I can understand your feelings, but still it's their oppinion.
Although I don't get that guy. Who wrote a review in a genre he doesn't even like. Why listen to it, you already think it is bad :scratch:
But the one that says it is to complex, I think he is right. When you listen for the first time to the cd it is really, you can hear it is really complex. I like that though but it is a complex album ;)

*going to read the other reviews now*

The band’s style, mixing a splash of symphonic metal, with a large dash of prog blended with a classical mixer, works well to make the perfect dark cocktail. This will keep all types of fans listening and all tracks have a feel of epic proportion.
:lol3:
That is a fun review to read! I liked it!

The other is in german ¬_¬ I don't like German...

Not Germany or Germans (oh my that would be hypocrit XD)
but the language, I've tried the subject on school but.... I failed (read: failed hard!). I scored (if I have it correctly in germany is that the lowest you could get..) 9's but here in the Netherlands it would be 1's
Really I suck at German.

*going to read the review now*
