First one I received is the french Metallian print magazine. 5/6 points, great review, an interview, 'Bubonic Waltz' on the sample CD. Nice start, definitely.

Scans of the Metallian interview are available since today on the French Fansite - linked in signature - latest blog!

very nice interview! :D

( i had a first comment saying you were too serious in the last question Oliver, haha. so i answered you were not lacking sense of humor and that maybe some things didn't come out through a written 5 lines answer. and it's true, like it's rendered there it sounds almost pretientous, which is definitely not you... but seriously - Guitar Hero? i'm with you on that! )

Critics from the Hungarian Metal Hammer

" Those who like symphonic metal bands with neoclassic elements, certainly liked in 2009 Sons of Seasons’ debut album, Gods of Vermin. The german team is supposed to bring the musical ideas of the keyboardist Oliver Palotai (Kamelot, Circle II Circle, Doro) to life. While the singer is that Henning „Henne” Basse, who might be most familiar as the singer of Metalium.

Usually this style is titeled prog, symphonic metal, but the main roles still belong to the guitars, and the varried keyboard parts are an important pillar as well, obviously. In their songs next to the determinant melodic music elements, here and there are some hard, and heavy parts too, which in case of this album in general put more weight on the scales. A very good example is Tales of Greed, where Basse shows how unbelievable voices he is able to squeez out of himself, even till the almost „metalcore” screams. The guy has anyway an enermous throat.
This CD seems many times like it was a theater play blended into an album, even though there is no trace of rockopera mood on it. Still it could easily hit the stage with some kind of sick Tim Burton style set. There might be some healthy crazyness in Oliver’s mind, without that it would be hard to dream an album like this to life. What seperates Sons of Seasons from the many similar bands is that they are able to step over the boundaries of the genre.
Despite of the comlex style and madness there are still handrails, which help us in receiving. Even though this genre seems to be drained out till the last dropp, Sons of Seasons has an image of their own, the music is exciting and unique right till the end, although I didnt really believe that there is still something new under the sun. The guest appereance of Simone Simons (of course…) from Epica is just the cream on the cake.
It is a seriously well done, and very thick material, accompanied with very unique and not at all kitschy keyboard themes. This album takes time to listen to, there is so many things happenning in the some parts bombastically written songs. But you wont get tired of it till the end of the CD at all, and there is no better sign than that.

For me this is now a very round eight, but I think with more spins to it, it will grow more on me. Highly recommended material!"

 Awesome review!
I liked that he/she compared it too Tim Burton, because I was thinking the same thing.
